The health benefits of red wine
1/2/2009 2:45:00 PM
With the festive season upon us, I looked for some good news, amongst the economic doom and gloom, and it arrived in the form of a website promoting the health benefits of red wine.
You'll find extensive information, and of course the obvious warning that moderation is key to all, together with some of the dangers of alcohol abuse.
But let's stay on the positive theme - head on over this informative
website and you'll read that it's OK to enjoy one or two glasses of red wine with your festive season meals.
Please enjoy alcohol responsibly and never drink and drive!

Last time I told you about work on my new Hair Mineral Analysis website, blaming that as the reason for the delayed newsletter. This time my delays have been due to work I've been doing on a revision of the Migraine ebook that I've provided content for, as part of a group of complementary therapists all with an interest in treating/preventing migraine and tension headaches.
While the ebook as a whole covers many approaches beyond nutrition, that was my area of expertise and it's an extensive upgrade of a previous ebook that many of you bought.
In my researches I was reminded of some worrying information I first became aware of while I was studying for my nutrition qualification and while I might have hoped things had changed in the intervening years it seems there has been no improvement.
Here's a question for you. Do you know what substance has been approved by the FDA, despite being suspected to contain a carcinogen and accounting for 75% of the complaints they receive, yet is still on supermarket shelves in about 6,000 products including many that children and adults alike consume frequently? Unless you are actively avoiding this substance already, there's a high chance you and your family are regular users.
Read a brief treatment both sides of the debate. The "cons" in this month's article and a link to a "no cause for concern" article, then make your own mind up. There's also a link to more extensive information.
Please feel free to forward this to any who may be interested, particularly anyone you know who suffers from migraine or headaches.

Apologies for the late/missed newsletter last time, but I have been side-tracked onto a project that, as is so often the case for me and "webby" things, took far longer than I expected it to. I've been having new web-pages designed for one of my services, and while the hard work was done by my web-designer, I had some input to make in the form of content.
Finally, it's finished and at the end of this month's article you'll find a link to my new Hair Mineral Analysis website.
The service itself isn't new to me, and many clients will already have used the test, and been amazed at how accurate its findings were. Redesign of the website was just a step in the direction of making the service more widely available, and promoting it as an objective method of designing your supplement program.
I hope you'll find the article informative and interesting whether you have had the test before (and feel it's time for a re-evaluation) or whether it's a completely new concept to you.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think might be interested.

At the time of writing, the head-lines here in the UK have brought another spate of bad publicity for supplements. Antioxidants in particular. But nutritionists are not dismayed. At the end of this month's article you can read the reply from well-known nutritionist Patrick Holford. Be sure to check it out.
Some of you may remember that Patrick founded the college at which I trained, and he was always an inspiring and entertaining speaker. I am, therefore, pleased to tell you that this month's article is one he has written (with Jerome Burne) on what to do if you have high cholesterol. I think you will be surprised by what you learn from it. Remember, while you're there, read Patrick's reply to the anti-oxidant scares.
Please feel free to forward this to any-one who may be interested.

Today I'm going to tell you about one of the most useful Christmas presents I received, and why you should treat yourself to one too!
It was a "fresh yoghurt maker" - but before you switch off and think (like I did at first) "I couldn't be bothered with all that messing about...." bear with me a little longer.
The Yogurt Maker I'm using is a unique design which makes yogurt as 'easy as making a cup of tea'. No mess, no fuss, no baby sitting, no thermometer. It really is so quick and easy to do that I make it as I prepare my bowl of cereal before I leave for work. (And for anyone who knows me, that really is an endorsement as I am definitely "Not a morning person".)
If you already buy yoghurt from the supermarket, that's a good start. But it's nowhere near as good as making your own, for reasons explained in more detail on my website.
I was using supermarket yoghurt, but since replacing it with freshly-made yoghurt my digestion is much better, and several minor health complaints have cleared up.
Visit my
article page for more information, and Six Great Reasons to Eat Freshly Made Yogurt. You will also learn some little-known nutritional benefits of yoghurt.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone who may be interested.
